Ripoff, lie, mislead and sells by use of deceitful persuasion

I am a current employee at the National contact center for Sylvan learning centers as an "Education SALES Consultant". Since being employed with the company I have learned the startling truth about their drive for money more than the customers true educational needs.

Upon recruitment they sell their own potential employees on working for a companies who "helps" children (yea into the poor house). I have to admit I felt really good about my new position. As I grow more experienced with the company my confidence in what I was selling grow more and more leery.

I too was sold on the Sylvan lies and promises of getting children ahead academically. I coaxed concerned, emotional and sometimes crying parents into giving up their money in hopes for a better education for their kids. All the while ensuring them that they had made the right decision. I laughed and joked with fellow co-workers, "No matter what the problem, your child needs a Sylvan Skills Assestment ha, ha".

It was later I had learned that what I told the parents on the line was completely contradictory to what actually happened in Learning Centers. Parents are never told at the call center the cost of the program. They are only qouted 45 to 50 dollars per hour (and if they are paying the tutors only 9 or 11 dollars where the hell is the rest of the money? We make more than that!!!) when in all actuality the programs are thousands of dollars.

I have heard my share of complaints from customers. People have felt pressured, belittled, sold, ripped off, lied to and mislead from the Education Sales Consultants at Sylvan. Frankly, the people in the call center don't really care about your child, they care about making a their bonus checks bigger. Parents ARE being sold, not recieving a true unbais consultation. No matter what the issue, grade levels behind, lack of motivation, yes even dyslexia and AUTISM, everyone needs a Sylvan Skills assesstment $225.00

Since working at Sylvan I have lost belief in the company and I am tired of feeling guilty at the end of the day. Playing on peoples emotions and making parents feel guilty for their children's struggles. My advice, beware of bias selling from big companies whose motivation is selling you. Most children just need motivation and encouragement. Lastly try a private tutor because Sylvan will sell you.
