I too am a victim of greentree / conseco / greentree. I bought a mobile home from the crooks in 5/1997. I put $3000. Down and financed $25,878.50 for 25yrs. @$253.64 a month. I did not understand anything nor was I told anything about a "simple interest" loan at the time of purchase. I always though of myself as a smart person, but boy did they ever put the skids to me when they did what they did to me. I too was out of work for different periods of time as I worked construction and it can be a bit iffy at times. I had to do a few extensions, but for the most part, I tried my best. If I was too late on the pymt. I also would get the harrassing calls asking me "why don't I have someone to borrow the money from and I was a deadbeat for not being able to make my payment, after all, I did buy the home why was I not paying for it. I remember quite a few times crying so hard that I could not talk for the verbal abuse over the phone. The guys name is Derrick Brown/Collection Manager/1-800-392-4276 ext. 125. This guy called me everything but what he was, and more. I hated this guy. When I knew I might be late on the payment, I would drive to Earth City and hand deliver the pymt. To him, mostly because I wanted to see this guy and let him know that I will stand up to his harrassment.

Then I had to do an ext. Again in 1. I also had credit life on my policy as well as disability insurance that was through greentree, who was who had the financing at that time. When I had to do the ext., it was conseco who had the financing. I went to their office in earth city to do the ext. With a Mr. Kumar. We did the ext to cover 3 or 4 months. The payments were to be added to the end of the loan, and all my insurance payments (credit life, disability, and homeowners) that were through a subsidiary of greentree/conseco and were always added to my pymts were to be combined and then divided into equal amount and then added on to my pymts each month so as not to have pay a lump sum as they could not be added to the end of the loan like the past due pymts. I got a letter to confirm all this from the earth city office saying it was brought current on 3/25. I rec'd a letter from the credit life people dated 3/22, stating that my credit life and/or disability coverage had been cancelled, due to my request or for non-pymt of the premium. I was appalled at this so I called only to be told that I had initiated the cancellation, to which I informed them that I most certainly did not and then they proceeded to tell me that it was cancelled for non-pay which I told them about the ext. And I was told once it is gone, it can not be given back. Mind you this is only a few days before this ext. Brought everything current.

My credit life policy also included a grace period clause of 30 days. I called and talked to different people everytime I called regarding this dispute, each time getting a different answer. I faxed, mailed everything I had on the ext. And still got nowhere. I still paid the extra pymt for the insurance each month as well. I threatened to get on a plane and go down there to get this resolved and their reply was how could I afford a plane ticket, when I could not pay my bills! I could go on and on. Is it not funny that I still have my disability coverage? They were all paid through my monthly pymt. And when one was late would they all not be late? Botttom line is when I purchased the home I financed $25,878.50 and after making 9 years worth of pymts anywhere from $260. To $450. A month I called to get a payoff and it is now $23,406.47!

Needless to say I tried to refinance it through them a couple of yrs. Ago and they denied me. Said I had to make my pymts on time for the next year and then they might do it. The home is the only bill I owe and I have been off work due to a back injury and surgery and the disability has been paying my pymts since 7. I have not worked since 2 but before they made any pymts. Of course they take their good old time in processing the paperwork, I had to continue to make the pymts.

Needless to say a pymt was not made by them till about Sept., but they went back to 7, but the pymts I had made just made me ahead on my pymts when their pymts came through. I am about 4 months ahead on my pymts and they still denied to refinance, but little did I know but the interest rate even though you refinanced, would still be at the rate of 11%. Also of course the disability pymts are not made on time (I fax everything to them, so they get it right away) so therefore I get charged the per diem rate everyday it is late which goes to interest instead of the principal. I am on a fixed income due to my disability and can't afford to buy land to move it on in order to get a "REAL" loan. I am so upset now just writing this that I will not be able to sleep tonight. I will do everything I can to help anyone so that we can get these crooks and put them oput of business and I am striving to make them release me from this contract and put them behind bars, where they belong. I intend to let the attorney general know about this (thank God I found this website in my looking for, which is the company who has my disability through greentree) and also a friend who is a state rep in my area and anyone else I can, Including channel 5 news and contact 2. If anyone needs to contact me, I will check this website as to any responses. LETS GET THEM!
