Govenment grant big scam and ripoff

Education & Science

Yesterday's night (October 4th), I received a call of some government officer called Adam Wilson. He told me I was awarded a government grant of $12,500, with no payback and tax free. I just moved to the states so it was like weird for me. He proceeded to ask me a few questions: like if I was over 18, had I paid taxes, and did I still live in Fort Collins, CO. I told him I didn't understand what he was talking about and that I could not understand that much english. He told me that was ok, that he was going to speak as least english as he could. He had a foreign accent so I suspected. I started to ask him questions. He told me that the government contacted them to approve me of a 12,500 grant I would never have to pay back. With just 1 prossesing fee of 49.95 that I must pay within two days when the "Legal paper work arrive". He transfered my call to someone else. Another guy with accent, named with another american name. He taped some pre-recorded questions to make me say my information and record it. When it came to the bank information and to authorize something, I say no repeated times. The guy was upset and almost yelled, "Just say YES! Say YES!" I said no! And he put me on line with the original guy "Adam" which explained that he wasn't going to withdaw anything from my bank account, all I was going to agree is to pay them the 49.95 within two days. And the bank account info was just to make the deposit from the government's bank to my account. I really don't know why I continued this weird conversation but I gave them the information.
THen he told me I was granted some medical free services for 2 months and after that I will be charged $200 if I didn't cancelled. THe told me a phone # to call to cancel it. They also offered me Free long distance call for some period and after that I will be charged, and I can cancell it any time again!..

Suddenly with lots of questions to be asked he managed to hang up on me. Icalled back to the number they gave me and they ere "CLOSED"! THe recording didn't even say the company's name!

I felt so stupid! So I connected to the internet and googled on govenrment grants etc, and I came by with the Advantage America's scam. Same procedure, same rude people, same foreign accent, same questions, same squeme! I figured out I was scamed!

I freaked! I logged in into my bank account and transfered everything I had into my savings account. And first thing in the morning (today) I went to my bank and explained the situation and closed my account, opened a new one, and every transaction that will come in, they will call me to authorize to debit it from the new checking account. They told me the bank has the control now and fortunately I closed the account on time since no transaction of 49.95 has been posted! They told me they had made several closings like this in the past two weeks!

I really feel so stupid to fell in that one! I write my story to help any one with the same situation, to have a guide in what I did... Hope it helps and hope they catch this people that apparently are spreading fast!!!

Report them!
