Ripoff dishonest, rude, foreign representatives, government grant scam

On September 28 I recieved a phone call from '001-819' on my cellphone. I was never aware that phone numbers showed up on a caller ID like that, and being that I had just filled out an application for a fast cash loan I answered it assuming it was them.

It ended up being a foreign lady named Melodie ID number 226. She asked me a few questions about if I was over 18, had I paid taxes, and did I still live in Baltimore, MD. She told me that the government contacted them to approve me of a 12,500 grant I would never have to pay back. With just 1 prossesing fee of 49.95.

She ran through her introduction and asked for my routing and checking account number which I gave her for whatever reason. She then verified my street address and said theyd be sending a package withing 4-5 buisness days with forms I would have to fill out. Also, I would recieve 500 in groceries of my choice.

She then asked if I had any questions I told her no, I was not paying attention because I was busy researching the company online. When she transfered me to confirm my information I ran across other articles about the company being a rip off so I hung up on the recording without ever saying my name. She called back not even 2 minutes later asking if we had been disconnected I told her yes and she said she was transferring me. I told her not to I did not want to go through with the transaction.

"Ms.innes. Why would you not want to recieve 12,500 dollars?" -Melodie

"I decided against it I am not interested please remove my information." -Me

"But What is your reason why you would not want free cash" - Melodie

"Do I have to have a reason? I changed my mind I don't want it." - Me

"Yes you have to have a reason." - Melodie

"*laughing* Why would I have to have a reason?" - Me

"Because you should want this money it is free." - Melodie

"Okay, well my exact reason is that I researched your company and saw that it is a ripoff, a scam, I will not go through with it and I refuse to have this conversation." - Me

" Ms.innes, do you think we can use your information without your approval." -Melodie

"No you can't" - me

"What?" - Melodie

"No you can not use my information without a voice approval which I will not give you. You can not use my information."

"Okay Bye" - Melodie

At this point I am still frustrated and nervous they may try to use my information. I called their customer service line and after 10min was connected to a male with the same accent. He said they did not have any of my information until 48 hours and when did his company call me. I repeated 20min ago and the representative was very rude and I asked him to confirm that my information will not be used with out a voice authorization which he confirmed. Im hoping thats the truth.
