Pen Company to Put Manufacturer's Lien on Consumer, ripoff

I am a Real Estate Agent, and a sales representative from Telenius called me up to try to sell me some customized pens. There was much haggling over the fact that I would rather see a sampler, and actually view the pens before buying.

The salesman then indicated that the pens would be sent 100% satisfaction guarenteed by UPS, and that I would give a check to the deliverer upon arrival. He said that if I wasn't able to see the pens first, that I could refuse them no problem, and the company would take them back. I agreed. Within thirty minutes, someone from "UPS Secure Deliveries" called me up to confirm the order, and I confirmed it.

When the product arrived, I was not able to view it, and therefore I refused to accept it. A few days later, a representative from "U.P. S Secure Deliveries" called me up and said that they would place a manufacturer's lien against me for 5 times the amount of the invoiced price. The invoiced price was $210, making the lien $1,100. The caller then abruptly hung up. Upon trying to call them back, no one picked up the phone. After talking with a representative at UPS, I found out that the division does not even exist.

Since then, I have received a fax from their lawyer, identified as Mort Avam & Associates. This fax stated that I must settle the account, or they will go through with a lien against me.

Please do not do business with this company, as I believe them to be a "Chop Shop" enterprise. I am contacting a lawyer to deal with this problem, and will keep anyone informed of what happens.
