East Broad Street Ripoff and very Rude!

We have not rented from Hollywood Video for almost a year and after this experience I remember why we have not. On October 8 we rented a couple of playstation games. We returned them by putting them into the after hours box in the parking lot in front of the store. We heard nothing from them until I received a letter concerning collections in December.

On December 21 I called the collection company and told them that we returned them in the box in the parking lot. They still insisted that the store did not have them and if I did not want the $242.78 to be reported to the collection agencies then I could pay $49.98 plus tax. This was supposed to be paid by December 31.
Well, I reculantly said I would pay that amount and I want my account closed forever. Here in Ohio on December 22 we had a terrible ice storm that left us without electric for over 5 days. So, this Hollywood Video was not on my mind at all. I was more concerned about our safety with no heat.

Today, January 6, I stopped at the Store to pay the $49.98 plus tax and the very rude women at the store would not accept this because it was after December 31. I explained to them about the electric, etc. But they did not care and wanted the full amount.

They even said right in front of me when they first began to look up my account on the computer that, "Oh, this is the one that went to a different location". I became very suspicious at this point and said they were not getting anything from me and I will contact the credit agencies myself. They admitted that they recieved the items and did not log them in at their store then sent them to another location. I will not pay this company anything!
