Sears Mastercard SCAM - customer service

The cashier at the local Sears store pushed a Sears mastercard application on me promising that I would get $15 worth of my merchandise today "free". She even talked me into splitting my order in half with my boyfriend so we could both get $15 of each order free if we were approved. I asked if the merchandise went on the credit card and she assured me it didn't. I asked if I changed my mind and canceled the card when I received it what happened. She said the merchandise was still free. It would not be charged to my card and I didn't have to pay for it at the counter with any other form of payment. Of course we went for it. Should have know it was a scam. Received the card in the mail and never activated it. A week later I received a bill from the credit card company for the amount of my "purchase" which should NOT have been charged to a card according to the cashier. I intend to file this with the Ohio Attorney General and BBB once I receive a response from Sears.

To all reading: BEWARE if you get offered a SEARS Mastercard with promise of free merchandise / $15 off your order it is a SCAM!!
