The Big thing here is that all the light globes are advertised as having a life that is by no means relative to actual use. Osram 10,000 hour halogen has been tested to 5000 hours by the Chinese factory. Osram simply put their own figure on it.

The test to 5000hours means that less than 50% of the lights in the sample batch lasted to 5000 hours and they did it while maintaining over 60% of the original light output.

They don't even wait the 5000 hours to test it, they just turn it on and off (switches) 2500 times. So they can test to 30,000 hours in two weeks (15,000 switches).in reality this should take 3.5 years. It is a scam, it has been a scam for a long time. The lighting company's are taking advantage of consumers lack of knowledge.

They also don't offer a warranty. So you buy a 10,000 hour lamp, it dies after 2 months, and being on for 10 hours what can you do? Nothing you have to throw it out.
