Florida air duct cleaners horrible, unprofessional, incompetent company & employees!

On 8/21, I met up with two technicians from Florida Air Duct Cleaners at my home that I purchased on 7/12. The house was vacant and I explained to the technicians that on several occasions while painting, the AC did not appear to be cooling properly, took a long time to reach the set temperature and when it did, it ran nonstop but was on auto. I asked them to check the AC because I needed to know what needed to be done before I move in; I wasn't sure if I needed to get it serviced or save up for a new system because it was not serviceable.

After inspecting the system, the technicians explained that the AC was overall in good condition and could easily last another "3-5 years" if I had the following repairs done: air duct cleaning, evaporator coil cleaning, inspection and flushing of drain line, cleaning of blower components, rebuild plenum board, and installation of UV light. I was told the repair would cost $1080 and when I hesitated due to the price, the technician explained that because they are so confident the AC will run efficiently, they will provide a 5 year protection plan for free which covers bi-annual servicing. I felt more comfortable with that offer and agreed to have the work perform that day. The total cost was $1155.50 which I paid with my credit card the same day.

I moved in the house on 9/8 and immediately noticed that the AC was still not working properly and after three nights sleeping there with no change, I went ahead and called the company on 9/11 and the receptionist agreed to send a new set of technician the following day.

I was at work that day but my boyfriend met them at the house and I was in constant contact with the technicians who called and explained that the AC needed 7 pounds of freon at $140 per pound. I was also told that there was another part of the AC that needed to be cleaned and would cost $300 and more importantly that the previous technician should have told me the real problem was a lack of freon. At some point in the conversation, as the technician was talking and I started to interject, he said to me " and I immediately got off the phone with him and called the office to speak with a manager.

I told the manager that I was very upset that his technician had cursed at me and that my AC was not working because it needed freon which the previous technician never mentioned. He apologized for the technician and said he would send him home and send another technician to inspect the unit and if freon is needed, they will add some for free. Two new technicians later arrived and called me to say the AC did not need freon.in fact, he explained that he tried to add freon and the system could not take it and if he tried to add more, he was afraid the compressor might blow up. He explained that what I needed was a new unit and that the system was old and no amount of repairs would get it to work efficiently. This is the same unit I was told was in overall good condition two weeks prior. He said the previous two sets of technicians should have told me from the beginning that my only option was to get a new unit. I called the manager in shock and he told me that the technician there was one of his best guys and if I wanted, they could install a new system that day at the cost of $5800 and they would credit the $1155.50 towards that amount. I told him that this was not acceptable and I did not trust to have them perform any further work and that I wanted a full refund to which he said he would not refund me because the work had been completed.

The basis of my complaint is that the initial work that was done was not necessary. I am not contesting that work was perform but simply that it should not have been when what I needed was a new AC and not repairs.in a matter of hours, two technicians told me contradictory information on what was needed. The only agreement that day was that the previous work was unnecessary.
