Installer from Hell and Bad Customer Service.

Day 1:

Salesperson arrived on time, was very helpful and installation was scheduled for the next day.

Day 2.

Chris the Manager calls to say that the door ordered with 'obscure glass' was not available. He would not refund the extra cost or replace the glass later and the 3:00 PM installer arrival time was pushed back to "between 4:00 and 6:00".

I was not called again to be told that the installer was running late and each time that I called, I was told that he was on his way. Four calls later, Gary finally arrived at 8:30 PM red-eyed, unshaven, grummpy, defensive, belligerent and 'upselling' from the start without even so much as "Hello" or "Sorry for being late".

Gary cited issue after issue that were not factored into the salesperson's quote. Everything from extra materials, exceptional installation, relocating electrical, etc. All in chorus with bad mouthing the salesperson and the Company. I sent Gary home after determing that he did not bring all the required materials, parts and tools.

Frustrated, I called the Company at 9:00 PM to cancel the order, but was reassured that 'if given one more chance', everthing would be taken care of the next day. I agreed on two conditions: someone from the Company would inspect by Noon to assure that there were no installation issues; and, Gary would be more customer friendly.

Day 3:

Well, Chris the Manager did not call me, so I called him about 2:00 to be told that everything was taken care of and Gary would be there between 4:00 and 6:00 with a more customer friendly attittude. Well, Gary arrived at 6:30 with the same attitude, but this time he brought a helper... Aka, Dumb & Dumber.

Six hours later (12:30 AM) Gary knocks on the door to say he was done. He casually mentioned breaking the garage dome light and that the 'thermal fuse' in my original door opener was the reason why the door would close, but not open??? A blinking red light caught my attention and it took Dumb & Dumber twenty minutes to diagnose a poor connection to one of the sensors???

I found my door opener manual and under Problem Solving determined that a door operating in one direction, but not the other indicated a check of the on/off swithes was called for.in bringing this to Gary's attention, his belligerent demeanor popped up again and I was remined that he was the professional, and that he could sell me a new door opener on the spot for $375 plus installation. I declined the new opener and reluctantly signed the credit card receipt. Dumb & Dumber exited with a passing remark about my lack of tipping as disrepectful to their profession.

In less than five minutes after Dumb & Dumber left, I found and fixed the on/off switch problem to validate my refusal to buy the new opener as the right decision. I also found that Dumb & Dumber had broken a second light outside, installed the bottom door moulding backwards, failed to install the door handle, failed to sweep up the broken glass, flipped cigarette butts in my gravel and used my side yard as a urinal.
