Construction & Repair

When we first had the sunroom installed, it leaked and the doors did not close or lock properly. After repeated calls to the company they did make several trips out to caulk the glass and finally stopped the leaks for some time. However we still occasionally have a leak during heavy rains.

We paid extra to have two sets of French doors installed, and they never worked properly. After the company had adjusted the doors to the maxim extent possible, they still did not work properly and I asked the company if the room may be sinking they denied it but did put a couple more 4x4 posts under the doors to try and stabilize them. Another sign that I provided them that I thought proved the room was sinking was that the water in the gutters ran away for the downspouts. Their solution was to install another down spout in the center of the room. They stated that Four Seasons had told them they should have had a downspout there to begin with. The next thing that occurred is that one of the sliding windows would not close all the way. We went through most of last winter with duct tape and weather stripping on the window. The company said they would come out and check the room once the ground dried up. They basically blew me off for 6 months until I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau and state consumer affairs agencies.

They then came out and had me take the decking boards off my deck and had another company come and look at it. Surprise it is sinking and in one place (where the window will not close) is down at least 1- inches. When they found out what it would cost to fix it, they have quit returning calls and the owner is always conveniently out of the office. Also while taking the decking boards off I discovered that they did not properly seal the room where the cedar siding is and that water had gotten behind that and rotted the OSB paneling that was put up for walls. I also discovered that they did not properly install the gutters and now I have water damage to my sub floor where it hooks onto the house.

Even after it was built I had to hire a different heating contractor to change all of the ductwork to try and make it comfortable. It definitely is not a four seasons room at best we can use it two seasons. I will now have to hire someone to jack it up and put good supports under it, fix the sidewalls, fix the gutters and my sub floor.

We had purchased this room for entertaining but have not been able to use, as it is either too or too cold or the doors will not work. No one that has seen the work performed on this room would ever consider purchasing one of their own.
