Four Seasons failed to take responsibility in requiring how the sunroom I purchased was to be constructed and attached to my existing home. They provided instructions to their contractor on exactly how to assemble, install and seal these beautiful rooms and exactly what materials to use with their products. But they stopped short of meeting their obligation in assuring those instructions were followed correctly.
Hiding behind a veil of independent autonomy, resulted in my addition not being constructed safely, not providing the intended comfort and satisfaction in the completed addition. The sunroom has had several panes of glass shatter all over, for no reason other than not installed properly, the room leaks inside the sunroom and now leaks inside my home. This has caused mold in a bathroom closet, destroyed sheetrock and stains in various places where the sunroom is attached to the house.
Four Seasons provided me with the name of an independent contractor they refer such problem cases to. This contractor used to design various styles of the product for them and provide training to the other contractors. For an additional fee, which I paid, the contractor has provided an inspection report outlining the failures of the original contractor. These include the pitch of the sunroom roof where it is improperly attached to the rafters of the roof, improper flashing, improper sealant of glass, etc etc etc.
Four Seasons disavows themselves of any and all responsibility. They won't even consider sharing in the expense of the repair. Their most helpful suggestion is that I should pursue resolution with the original contractor. Unfortunately, it has been 9 years since the project was completed. New Jersey has a statue of limitations of 6 years on this type of litigation.
So sunroom lovers beware. Four Seasons provides fantastic pictures of what their rooms look like but in the end, their rooms aren't worth the paper you'd print the picture on.
