Over Promised, Underdelivered

This particular company had all the ingredients to do a great job, however, the leadership was less than effective. I was promised all of the the best products, plants and hard scape to make our yard really standout... That was what the owner promised. Now, I'll tell you what really happened.

I was given a great sales pitch, wrote the first of three checks and work began. The crew showed up for about 3 days and then disappeared. They came back about 3 weeks later for 2 days and then disappeared for about a month. After making multiple phone calls and complaints, the crew showed up again with the owner and they proceeded to tear up the entire yard, patio and front sidewalk. I thought that I had made an impact with my dissatisfaction from earlier.

This was just the begining. We were now about 2 months in and I had a yard that was about 15% complete and an absolute disaster to say the least. I had no yard, patio, front sidewalk and mud everywhere from the lack of grass. Well, 2 more months went by before they came back. A total of 4 months had gone by before the project was complete and the final straw was that the owner said that we ran out of money for the additional plants. The yard had about 30% of the plants/trees that he had promised and the project was over budget by about 40%... WTF! The saga continues, because it is now a year later and the plant garauntee that he said would replace any dead plants/trees hasn't really panned out... Surprise. Totally bad experience that cost about $18k. Never again!
