Months late, leaked, replaced, leak again, handles at different levels, runaround customer service

Construction & Repair

I purchased 4 Peachtree doors from a local dealer. They were supposed to show up in August and they showed up in October.

To make matters worse they showed up with the holes for the handles drilled at two different levels in the doors, so that one handle was about 1/2 of an inch higher then the other with the doors perfectly even.

When it rained the 3 of the 4 doors leaked between the glass and the door. This caused the wood lamination on the inside of the fiberglass door to delaminate. I was told that they were installed wrong and that the water was comming in under the door. We saw the water coming in between the glass and the door and took pictures. Finally Peachtree agreed to replace the pannels.

Again the pannels did not arrive on time. They were replaced and what do you know? 2 of the 4 leaked between the glass and the door again!

At this point I called the dealer that sold me the doors and was told that I had to deal with Peachtree and he basically said good luck with that. Well he was right. After more then a year. Several different phone and email conversations and service visits they fixed my doors.

Yea right! They sent a service man out who spread silicone all over the doors where the glass meets the frame. I complained that this was a patch and did not return my doors to the condition that they should have been in when I received them. They told me that they preformed an industry standard repair and that the windows would be good as new.

Good as new would mean that there is sealant sandwiched between the glass and the body of the door creating a durable watertight seal.

Apparently you can avoid spending $6000 on doors and just buy the cheapest thing you can find at Home Depot then put silicone on the outside and you will have yourself a Peachtree.

The hardware on the doors is chincy and just recently the something sheered off in side the door handle mechanism so when you try to open the door the handle comes off in your hand. I had my contractor look at it and he said that it is not just a loose set screw something in there broke off.

So now coming up on 3 years after my original purchase I am madder then ever and still having problems.

I wish I had done research on Peachtree. You don't even have to type in anything negative as soon as you type in Peachtree and review your page will be full of people with similar problems and frustrations.

Don't by Peachtree doors. Its quite possible that they will not be in business soon.
