In February my septic system was backed up. I did not know anything about my septic system. I have a septic pump and probably all I needed to do was flip the breaker and it would have started back to working. I did not realize that I even had a septic pump or that there was anything electrical about the septic system.
I called Mr. Rooter out of Roswell. One tech came out dug up my yard pumped the tank, cleaned a filter which did not need cleaning and jetted from the tank back toward the house. It was $1105.00 and in the process he broke an underground electrical line. I had no idea where the line was going, but I am sure that he did. It was going to another tank which housed the septic pump. So he covered it up and left knowing that my system would back up again shortly.
Two months later the septic system backed up again. I called them back out there and I was at work. They talked to my wife. They told her the field lines were too small in diameter. That the filter was in the wrong place and that the septic pump was bad. They said everything was not in "code". They quoted that it would be over $12000.00 to fix. They took the septic pump and my wife wrote them a $5000.00 deposit check.
I got home and called a legitament company who stated that this company was trying to get over on me. They said Mr. Rooter would take a $2000.00 job and charge $12000.00
I managed to get the deposit check back and wrote them a $400.00 check for digging up my yard the second time. They kept my septic pump and at this time I did not realize that the broke electrical line went to the septic pump.
A good company came out and put a new pump and ground cover in for $1875.00. He said nothng was out of "code" and that the filter and field lines were just as they should be. I repaired the broke underground electrical line and everything is fine now.
