Unethical business practices

The owner of this business is an unscrupulous individual and will attempt to swindle you.

The starter rope on our 10 month old Toro lawnmower suddenly stopped retracting back into the engine, so we took it to this place for repair. I should have known better when he asked where we bought it (why does this matter?) and he smirked when told it was purchased at Home Depot.

After 5 weeks, he finally fixed it and then claimed the damage was caused by "excessive pulling", was not covered by warranty, and would cost $65. (Appparently we "excessively pulled" it the dozen times we started it, since it was a brand new mower that started in 1 or 2 tries each of the 6 or so times we cut the grass last summer.) We had to argue with him, call Toro, etc. And eventually the engine manufacturer agreed that of course it was a warranty issue. Then the guy refused to give us a copy of the receipt, said he needed all copies for the warranty process, didn't have a copier to make a copy, etc.

This guy is shady, be very careful if you choose to go there.
