Over Charged for Repairs

On 26 Mar 11, my Water Heater broke / sprank a leak. It lasted 18 years. I called Anytime Plumbing for an estimate only. I was quoted $799 $45 for a WH pan for a 50 gallon WH. He installed a 40 gallon WH, which is what I needed. I called them back and asked that this was a free phone estimate? The rep "Jennifer" said yes, and that the plumber was on the way. I hung up and 5 minutes later, I was going to call back to cancel because I was still calling around to get estimates only. My door bell rang, and this incredibly rude, unprofessional guy showed up and said his name was Mark. He went into the garage and pulled out the invoice and told me to sign. I had a few questions first and he abruptly cut me off and told me to sign so he could get started. He made me feel like I had no choice, since he was already here.

He completed the job about 2 to 3 hours later. He presented me with the invoice that said $847.64 total at the bottom. I paid the bill, because once again he was rushing me and wanted to leave. I spent the rest of the day cleaning up my garage floor and the drive way because he left a mess. I viewed the bill / job invoice on Sunday, 27 Mar 11, and found out that the dollar amounts that he listed on the invoice did not add up to the $847.64 written on the bottom. The amounts he listed are: $504.16 Water Heater, $45.00 WH pan, $50.00 permit, $100.00 labor, $3.64 tax. These amounts add up to $702.80. Yet he wrote down $847.64 for the total. This is a $144.84 over charge. The bill even states that the $799 is only an estimate.

I called the company on Monday, 28 Mar 11, and was told by them that the Plumber "Mark" was not feeling well that day, and he wrote the wrong dollar amounts on the bill, and that they would re-write the bill and send me the correct one. This is totally unacceptable. They need to honor their contract that their rude / unprofessional plumber wrote up.
