Couldn't use the card - sears.com

I was in the market for a 60" flat screen television. I live in a rural area so online shopping is essential. Sears had a great deal advertised, and offered 24 months of no interest on any purchase placed on thier card.

I put the television in the cart and on the payment screen opted to apply for a charge card. I was immediately approved and given no account number or tab to advance to continue with my purchase.

I contacted customer service and was directed to the credit division. After being bounced around, I was told a new account could not be used immediately. The credit division or the online department couldnt process the transaction, and I would have to wait until the card arrived in the mail. The offers expired today. They also told me that if I drove to a store they could look up my account and probably do the transaction there.

After numberous calls and asking repeatedly to speak to a supervisor the end result was my business wasn't valued, I was roped into signing up for a credit card I couldn't use and if I wanted the privledge of being their customer I could inconvenience myself by driving 2 hours to try and make a purchase.

As far as protecting my security? They didn't have a problem with taken my information over a computer to open an active account in my name.

Not once was i thahnked for my willingness to be a Sears customer, asked what they could do or offered the very simple solution of making good on the price and no interest offer until my card arrived.

End result, two hours of my life wasted a slew of rude people who represent their company horribly and no televison. No wonder this company has almost gone under multiple times.in this economy, no body should have to beg to be allowed to spend money and no company shoud chase away a business.
