Potential explosion hazard / safety

Here is a letter sent to local reps..inside that letter is a complaint send to the NC Attorney General.

Dear Sir and Madam,

The following is a complaint that I forwarded to the NC Attorney General.

Please read through it for details.

In short, I realize the tank needed to be replaced. However, I am extremely concerned that I was not made aware of the leak the second it was identified. I have kids in my home!

To a lesser degree, I am also concerned with the cost incurred to me and my family due to this issue.

This is where we need intervention from the Government! Why are the propane company's not governed by the Utilities Commission? These are the nickels and dimes that are collectively effecting the livelihood of your constituents!

You may say use another company.
Why? The hassle of the move with all the same nonsense... Same chair. Just a different butt sitting in it!

On Friday 10/11 Carolane crew arrives at my house.

They enter onto my property without any prior notice and dig up the propane tank.

I approached the workmen and asked what was going on.
At that point the old tank was already removed and the new used tank already dropped into the hole.

I asked why the was tank being replaced and why wasn't I called and advised.

The workman told me that the tank had a leak, needed to be replaced and that I should have gotten a call. I did not.

After talking with the workman, I spoke to a rep, Molly, at Carroline who advised the manager would call me back. I never received that call. On Monday morning, 10/15/10 my wife called again and was told that the route driver had already told us about the leak... Simply not true.

I was not informed prior to 10/11/10 of the potentially dangerous situation.
I have no idea how long this condition existed.
I have no idea how much of my money was pouring out into the atmosphere.
I have no idea how much propane was in the old tank other than what the workman says.
I have no idea how much propane was put back into the newly installed tank other than what the workman says. NO FILL TRUCK WAS ON SITE!
I was not informed and had no prior knowledge of this replacement.

The situation is over for me. But, I seek a follow up from the Attorney Generals office to ensure that the action and inaction of Carolane and its employees is documented. It is my intention to help avoid the possibility of Carolane putting any other of their customers in potentially catastrophic situations. It is very clear, at least in this case, that Carolane knew about this danger and chose to ignore it.

In addition to the danger, Carolane also knew that the leak was costing me money. Alot of money, again, chosing to ignore the issue.
