Building Traditions
Ripoff! Lies, Lies, Lies - Builder Promises Again and Again for 5 Years to Fix Defective Stucco, Poor Exterior Paint Job, Water Leaks (Mold?) and More

Construction & Repair

Our home was built in December of 1998. For 5 years we have been contacting Building Traditions over and over and over, asking them to fix the problems listed below.

1. Defective Stucco - The stucco streaks, discolors, bubbles and peels. Building Traditions covered one wall with new stucco and it is not showing any problems, however, it is a totally different grain and style of stucco.in addition they painted it a different color than the original.

2. Defective Exterior Paint - The paint on the outside wood surfaces mildews. Building Traditions repainted parts of the exterior with the same brand of paint they originally used. The problem returned.

3. Water Leaks - Whenever it rains, water leaks in through one of the bedroom windows and one of the game room windows. There is damage to the walls and because it has been going on so long we are concerned about possible mold within the walls.

4. Poor Installation of Pocket Door - The pocket door in our daughters bedroom drags so badly that it is not useable.

5. Lack of Calking - Due to a water leak in the master bathroom, a cabinet had to be replaced, however Building Traditions forgot to calk around the cabinet.

Building Traditions says all the right things, they send out experts, manufacturer representenatives and superintendent after supertendent to look at the problems and promise to fix them. The owner has met with us more than once and accepts full responsibility, promises to fix the all of the problems, thanks us for our patience, but never follows through to completion. Building Traditions either attempts to fix a problem, as in the case of the defective stucco and make it worse, or they simply don't show up. The owner didn't even show up for the last meeting we had scheduled. He just sent another expert and his latest superintendent to once again, look at the problems and promise that they would be fixed.

What we expect:

1. Defective Stucco - We expect the stucco to be removed from the wall that does not match the rest of the house. We expect all of the stucco to not show the problems it does, whatever it takes.

2. Defective Exterior Paint - We expect the entire outside of the house to be repainted with paint of a brand other than the original paint used.

3. Water Leaks - We expect the interior walls to be inspected by a mold expert to determine if mold exists. If it does we expect it to be eliminated. We expect the leaks and the damage as a result of the leaks to be fixed.

4. Poor Installation of Pocket Door - We expect the pocket door to be intalled correctly.

5. Lack of Calking - We expect the calking to be done around the cabinet.

6. An Apology and Compensation - We expect an apology and to be compensated for:

1. The anguish Building Traditions has caused our family (my wife has developed stomach problems from the stress)

2. The time that we have lost in trying to get Building Traditions to do that they repeatedly say they are going to do.
