Five Diamond Protection
5 D Protection, Security Networks Fraudulently Misrepresented Costs, Rebates

Construction & Repair

We were approached on a door-to-door sales call by a Five Diamond Protection sales rep. I was reluctant to sign up with the company, but the rep offered to not only buy out our current alarm monitoring contract, but also that as an "advertising home" we'd get a $25/month rebate. We signed up and the tech was out within a few days to set up the system.

After the install, I tried to get in touch with the rep about the money for my existing contract. First off, he misrepresented what he was doing by contacting my alarm company and getting them to credit my account several months for "customer loyalty." Then he asked me not to actually cancel the account for several months. When I got a bill a few months later I canceled my service, and they sent a final bill. Although I called and emailed the rep repeatedly, he was always "out of town." I told him he could just mail a check to me, but he always promised that he'd just "stop by" with cash when he was back in town. Of course, the money never materialized.

The second problem was with the "rebate." When I sent in my form to register for the rebate, I received another registration form back. I sent it in, and next I got a repeat form, along with which I was supposed to mail in receipts for gas or groceries each month (this is allegedly to prove that you're a 'family' for their advertising scheme). Of course, the program is set up so that it is all but impossible to redeem a "rebate", and if you ever fail to comply, you are completely cut off from all future monthly rebates.

The equipment they install is second-rate (the motion detector barely covers half a room, not the 30 feet they claim), and they'll get you locked in to an extended contract. Don't believe the promises or hype - these guys are con men.
