Mess Left in Basement Upon Completion of Work

On 6/8/10, Boehm Heating came to our home to install a new heating system. Prior to their arrival, I moved all basement items aside that I reasonably thought would be in their way. During the progression of the work, I inquired whether any other items needed to be moved by me, and I was told no. Upon the completion of the work, my husband went down the basement to check things out. He spent at least 45 minutes sweeping and mopping the basement floor. Later that night, I went down thebasement and found that many clothing items that were on the floor in a laundry pile were soaking wet. Had I not checked this out, the clothing items would have been ruined due to mildew. Jim Boehm called this morning to say that he would be out to install the rain cap on the roof. I told him I was most distressed as to the mess that we found in the basement. Without specifying any particular amount, I advised that I thought an adjustment to our bill was in order and he stated that that woulld not be happening.in addition, I found his attitude to be "patronizing." It should be stated that my husband and I have done business with their company since at least 1983. Such an approach to a longstanding customer is unsettling.
