Order number does not denote the items shipped are the items in question

I ordered 6 plants from this company and 4 of 6 died. I contacted the company and provided the order number which showed what was ordered where it was shipped and to whom it was shipped. The Customer service center responded that I needed to provide my address and full name so they could pull up my account. I complied even though the original e-mail was a reply to the original order confirmation with my name and address. After a couple of days they responded that they were sorry the plants died.
They said to take advantage of the warranty I would have to send in the original shipping label. This is humorous as the package was plastic bag. So when I finished planting the plants I threw away the dirt covered plastic. Even if I was to have saved it I would not have saved it a month while I was diligently watering and caring for these plants and the 22 other fruit trees/bushes I ordered from other companies (all of which are still alive).
The concept that a piece of plastic is more able to determine which plant to replace vice the actual order number with which you identify me, identify what I am getting, and billed my credit card is insane.
