Received horrific customer service from this company, had personal property stolen and is still expected to pay

On January 12, an Airmax, Inc. Technician was sent to my condo for repair service on my heating system. I was given a window of 9am to 5pm for a tech to arrive at my home. At 2:30pm, I was told that someone would be to me in 45 minutes to an hour. More than an hour later, I received two calls from the tech, during both of which I had to listen to an elaborate complaint about inadequate parking. This surprised and annoyed me, because I live in Midtown Atlanta, where it's no surprise that parking is limited.

He walked into my building's gate, didn't properly introduce himself and continued to complain about the parking situation. He ended up illegally parking at a gas station that is next door to my condo building.

About 20 minutes into his work, he hadn't offered any explanation on why my heating system wasn't working. After I had to ask what was wrong, he claimed that my digital thermostat was the problem. He also claimed that replacing the thermostat, which he did, wouldn't be enough. For the heating system to work properly, the blower and evaporator coil needed to be cleaned. He agreed to clean the two parts that he mentioned only because he "didn't want to come back out [to my home]", an additional trip he would have to make another day.

He left his entire work area dirty and seemingly left the system in worst condition. I brought this to his attention and he did nothing about it. I told him that I wanted to keep my original thermostat that he removed. He told me in a very impolite tone that I had to walk to his truck with him to get it. He had already claimed my thermostat that I did not ask him to discard for me. I told him that I will be waiting in my condo for my thermostat and, after I have it back, he will be paid. He then stormed out of my front door, told me to "take it up with [my home warranty company]" and allowed the door to slam shut. I couldn't understand why he was so determined to keep my thermostat, a thermostat that he claimed didn't work properly.

I just bought my condo late last year, and the thermostat is only two months old! He was extremely rude to me again, I was regretfully rude back and I still don't have my thermostat. Even after receiving more than unfavorable service, I tried to pay him, and he wouldn't accept my check.

The following day, I received a voice message from an Airmax supervisor asking me to call back with a credit card number for payment. I couldn't believe it! She didn't even reference the voice message that I had left her company in regards to the horrific service that I had just received the day before.

I talked to the Airmax supervisor and an associate, explained that I won't pay the service fee until I get my thermostat and no effort has been made to return my property. I told the Airmax technician's supervisor that he left his work area and my system dirty, and she replied with no kind of concern. She never asked why I am unsatisfied with the service. She even believed the technician that lied, saying he had to park a block from my home!

In summary, I received horrible customer service, complaints from the service worker about inadequate parking, my property was taken from my home without permission, and, after I asked for my property back, I was cursed and yelled at. I do not recommend working with this small company!
