I have been with this company for 5 years and have had numerous claims (mainly A/C units). Other than minor customer service frustrations, I have had favorable results. I always talk with my service techs when they are at the house, and get their opinion on AHS. I have been told by more than one of them, that the key to getting your claim approved is to have clean, dust free appliances, especially the A/C units. I was also told by a very trust-worthy A/C tech that AHS contractor requirements are very stringent and many contractors don't possess the minimum req's to even be employed by AHS. With that said, beware of reviews that bash service techs as "shady" or "incompetent". From my experience with this company, this is simply not true.
If you're looking for a home warranty company I recommend AHS. If you do purchase a contract with them, I recommend you pay your premiums monthly versus anually. It doesn't cost any extra to do it this way and then if you are not satisfied with the warranty simply cancel it and stop paying. Best of all, no fighting to get a refund for unused coverage! Additionally, I think it give you extra leverage with the company because they have to work for your business from month to month. If they know you're paid up for the full year, they may be more inclined to give you issues on a questionable claim. Oh, and change your A/C filters at least every other month. That's the key to hassle-free claims!
