Worst customer service, sexual harassment, and pass the buck

In the beginning of April, I had a representative of Empire Today come to my newly-purchased condo to measure my windows for blinds. Because one wall was completely windows, and south-facing, I knew that I had to have something up before summer set in, or my top-floor condo was not going to be liveable in the summer months in Atlanta. Since the salesman left my home, it has been one nightmare after another:

—I called the next day to confirm that I wanted to go ahead. The salesman, Jackson, made an inappropriate comment, telling me that he thought I had "a nice ass." I was extremely embarrassed and didn't know what to say. At that moment I should have known better, and not gone forward with the order at all.

—two weeks went by and i received a call that my order was lost

—sending in the photocopy of the original order, they managed to find it again.

—the installer (Steve) came to measure for skylights without a ladder. After I had to go borrow a ladder from a friend, the installer told me I had to carry it up the stairs by myself and he couldn't help me because he had "diabetes." (The man was also more than 300 pounds and put deep gouges into my wall where the ladder rested against the wall.)

—three more weeks went by with no word from Empire. I called repeatedly to get a date to get my blinds installed, but Richard, the Installation Coordinator for Empire Today in Atlanta would not return my calls. I called everyday, and left my telephone number. After two weeks of this, a call to a customer service rep, said that he had noted in my record that the "customer's correct number was not on file." (interesting because I left it every time I called, and it was the same number they used to call up my record.

—after nearly two months, finally an appointment to have the blinds installed. Because i was at work, someone else had to let the installer in, and when I came home, I discovered that four windows had been left undone.

—Calling again with Empire: why didn't the installer do all the windows? Someone will get back to you. After repeated calls to customer service, my case apparently gets forwarded to Roneesha Odom, from the Office of the President.

Hmm, I think, ok. They are taking me seriously. Nope. Roneesha Odom never calls me, despite leaving her two messages.

Back to the drawing board, now I've had my fill with Empire and I call to tell them to just cancel the order and take out the blinds installed and refund my money. "Someone will have to call you back to discuss your cancellation." OMG—of course I knew that NO ONE would call me back regarding my cancellation, so I wait and wait, and of course, a week goes by, no one calls.

—I call back. I ask for a supervisor, who promises me that she will get to the bottom of this. Very nice lady. Sure enough, next day, I get a call from salesman again (the one who told me I had a nice ass) leaving a message that they had made the blinds out of the wrong material, and they had to be re-done and please be patient. Ok, so now we're in week 13 of this situation. I call him back, and have to leave a message. I explain I want to cancel the order or I want a substantial discount offered because of the situation.

No call back. We're in week 14...

I have to laugh when the Empire Today people post on this site telling customers to call them to discuss their problem... No one cares. The customer service people are not empowered to help you, and those who are, will not return your call.

Where are you Roneesha Odom? I'm waiting for my cancellation number or a substantial discount.

I think this situation pretty much warrants that, don't you?
