Slippery bathtub deemed standard by this company

I purrchased an MTI Renaissance whirlpool tub through a local supplier, Woodhill Supply in Willoughby, OH. The product is described as having a textured, non-slip bottom. The tub was a replacement so I had some experience with these tubs. Once it was installed, I was eager to use it. I filled the tub (you need to before you can operate the whirlpool jets), stepped in and went sliding over the bottom of the tub - - I found it VERY, VERY slippery. I held on to the edge to get out of the tub, but it was difficult. I called the local supplier (Woodhill) who said they could be of no help; they gave me the customer service number for MTI.
When I called MTI, they also said they could be of no help, so I asked to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor called me back and after two weeks, a representative came out to look at the tub. He said that was how the tub was supposed to be and others would buy a bath tub mat for safety purposes. I had had the previous tub for 20 years and needed no bath mat for safety purposes. If I fall, I hope that they are not going to say that it is standard for customers to fall when they use their tub, or I should have bought a mat!!
