American Home Fire Safety
Misrepresentation or Bait & Switch

Construction & Repair

Please read what others have said about American Home Fire Safety (AHFS) by doing a further search here on complaint. It is all dead on. I do not want to go through everything about the interview process but it is absolutely ridiculous.

I found almost everything that was said directly to me either misleading or just a straight lie.

Lie #1 - $18/hour. They get you into the interview room by giving a decent hourly rate (was approx $18/hour when I went through). There is no hourly rate. You get paid per presentation ($18) without regard how long it takes you to get through it and how long it takes you to travel to each presentation. They SAY it should only take you about 45 minutes allowing you 15 mins to get to the next presentation.

Lie #2 - NO SELLING. They tell you in that initial interview that there is no selling (a main reason I was there). You have to wait until the end of training day 2 (which was around midnight btw) to realize that this is not true. You, in fact, DO HAVE TO SELL their products. And to make things worse... They require that you TAPE all of you presentations... To ensure that you are doing it properly... But honestly... Its to make sure you are using the proper sales techniques. It you do not tape your presentations and follow how they tell you to do it... Ie emotional selling... Then you WILL NOT GET PAID your guaranteed amount. Of course, I understood that they had products to offer going into it but I did not expect that a "hard-sell" would be required to get paid.

Lie #3 - PROPRIETARY LEAD PROGRAM. Omfg. Again... They wait until the end of day 2 to reveal their proprietary lead program. Their big secret program, which they will not tell you before hand and you MUST wait until you've paid them you full $497 fee, is 100% referrals from your friends and family. So not only are you required to hit your friends and family for the first 20 presentations, you MUST rely on 100% referrals for the remaining 60 people. It's a total joke. There is a reason they wait until the end of the last day of training AND middle of the night to reveal this info.

Lie #4 - EXTENSIVE TRAINING. For the 10-12 or so hours that you spend in their office over two days... You spend just a couple of hours on actual fire safety. The rest is hype, guilt, and BS.

There is more but others have said it nicely. You will be amazed at how much talk there is about integrity backed by religion when in fact there is no integrity in that training room whatsoever. It certainly seems that the important lesson of fire safety is being used as a means to dupe those in need of employment out of their hard earned money.

Please listen to your gut feeling about these people and do not give them any money.

Just walk out.
