Lies, False Promises, Incompetence

Realestate.com is a company with slick salespeople who don't care about their clients and don't mind making false promises in order to earn their commissions.

In my search for a home, I approached one of their agents for assistance. I had been using a different agent and was trying to decide who to use. The other agent was one I found through my job and the company offered a rebate on the sales price of the home if the sale goes through. When I told the agent from Real Estate.com, Carlos Barron, he told me that his company also has a similar program and he would find out if I could participate.

When I saw him again he announced that I was approved for the rebate program and would be receiving either a check or gift cards to Home Depot upon completion of my sale. Despite the fact that Carlos was always late, consistently told me he'd have things done by a certain time and never did, and was always telling me things that weren't accurate, I did fall in love with a home and bought it through him.

After all of my paperwork was completed, I began to contact him regarding my rebate. Each time I was told that it was approved and was in the mail. It was always in the mail. Finally, Carlos passed me on to his superior, Jason Lopez, who also gave me the "check is in the mail" routine. He even said he would cut me a personal check and get reimbursed from the company later. It has been over 3 months since I purchased the property and over 5 months since the promise was originally made. For $500.00, which was the amount Carlos said the check would be for, the company could have honored its promise and satisfied me. Unfortunately, this never occurred.

After countless emails and voicemails, I finally filed a complaint with the Department of Real Estate and am filing a complaint here. I want to prevent anyone else from wasting the enormous amount of time I did with these people. There are many reputatable real estate companies out there, but this is not one of them. Beware!
