Did not complete work as contracted... Abandoned job

William Mobley is slick and friendly—a disarming gentleman with a beautiful slideshow of work on his laptop. However, once we contracted him, it was all downhill.

Our landscaping job was repeatedly delayed and his response time to our calls was days at best. He is often completely unreachable even though the number he give is his cell phone. He avoided contact while on the job as well, leaving early if he knew we were expected home.

The job was not completed as contracted, but we were foolish enough as young, first-time homebuyers to let things slide. This is our mistake and we should have never paid him. However, what ensued next was unforgivable. After waiting several months to have our bed edging installed and after not receiving any return calls, I saw William at my neighbor's finishing up a job there. When I asked him when he expected to be finished our job, he replied that he thought it was finished (despite our several messages to the contrary).

Taking him to my backyard, I showed him the plastic edging (which was supposed to be metal to begin with) that had been left in my yard uninstalled. Feigning surprise, he said he'd be able to do it that day. He just "needed to grab lunch at Wawa". After asking if I wanted anything from the store, he left and never returned.

Two years later, our landscaping clearly shows the signs of his shoddy work. Everything he did seems to be a mess. He promised what he clearly couldn't deliver. I really don't want any further contact with him at this point and don't expect to receive any sort of remediation. However, I saw him pulling up to a house just the other day in my town and my stomach turned with the thought of how their yard may end up looking. I would simply like my complaint filed so others may not make the same rooky mistake we did.
