Has anyone had luck suing them?

I have been reading the reports about apex and it makes me sick. I have been trying to cancel my contract for a few months. My alarm has been turned off for 4 months and they have not once called to see if I am in trouble or why my unit is not working properly. I sent in a form for cancellation and they sent me a letter saying I could either continue to pay for the next 5 years or pay 2000.00. They are automatically deducting this from my account and I also called them to switch to paper billing and they said that not only wont they stop taking it from my account that they choose not to. I was wondering if this was something that would be worth getting a lawyer. I am either stuck paying 55 dollers per month, by the way that said it would be free, for the next five years or I can empty my sayings and starve.
