We hired Savoie to put an addition on our house. The entire job was supposed to take 12 to 14 weeks. He stopped working after being on the job 6 months with 40% of the work remaining. He claimed he stopped working because I owed him money. He got pissed because I wouldn't give him more money and got a laywer involved and put a lien on my house. I was up to date in my payments - I think that he just realized he wasn't going to make any money on the project. We had to hire a lawer to clear the lien. Six months of legal wrangling later - on the day before we are to go to court and make him and his lawyer look like the crumb they are, he agreed to release the lien.

Here are some other highlights of the story:

- He hired a contractor to dig our foundation but not to remove the dirt.
- He had our foundation poured a foot short.
- His typical workday was 9am to 1:30pm.
- He dragged his feet on every step of the way.
- He created a mess on our property with the debris from the job and then
said the clean-up was our responsibility.
- He didn't glue our subfloor down resulting in pops and squeeks.
- He installed all of my interior doors inproperly. They all have trouble
opening and closing.
- He had to hire another contractor to put the roof on. Then after two
weeks, he had to rehire the same contractor to install the shingles.

If you deal with Savoie, pay attention to what he doesn't say. You have to be very specific with your questions, because he may not answer the question you are asking. He will also perform work and then tell you that that work was an "extra charge."
