Fresh off the phone with an extremely rude rep @ AHS named Deon. She was apparently an authorization specialist whose only job was to deny claims. Had they approved my claim, they would've been obligated for the $700 quote by the shady Certified Comfort Heating company that they sent down to my house to investigate the claim. I placed the call last week & was finally seen on Tuesday.

The Heating company told me that the gas valve was obsolete & that they would have to call AHS to determine the next course of action. After days of freezing our butts off with a 3 week old (it's currently 60 degrees in our house) I get a callback from AHS stating, We just wanted to verify that you received Excellent Service blah blah blah. I called them back today to check status & they told me my claim was denied. When asked why, they said that it was a result of lack of maintenance to our furnace. I told them that the tech only told us that the valve needed to be replaced, not that we failed to maintain the unit. They said, well that's what they told us. If you'd like to override the decision we can send another company BUT if they draw the same conclusion you're obligated for another $55 deductible.

I asked to speak to a manager & they forward me to this Deon character who only offered canned responses, similar to all other posters on this site. When she couldn't assist me & was being outright rude on the phone, I asked to speak to her manager. She said, I'm the only person you need to speak with & I'm fully capable of answering any questions. I asked her if she had a boss & she replied with the exact same answer. I asked, for her last name & she said, Deon. I said, this is your last name? She said, this is all I'm required to give. She told me if I would like to fix my furnace, she can provide me w / the quote from Certified Comfort & Heating & we could pay it ourselves. I told her this was unsatisfactory & that we were given contradicting statements regarding our outage.

I again asked to speak to her supervisor & she said, You can hang up & talk to customer service. I said, you can't transfer me to a supervisor? She said, No, if you'd like, I'll notify a supervisor to give you a call back. My notes have been logged. I said thank you very much & went straight for the Internet.

This company is HORRIBLE. I could've saved my cash for the home warranty & paid for a new furnace outright. Steer clear of these scam artists. Michael Moore should do a movie on them & expose these clowns. Next step, Cancellation!
