American Home Shield defaulted on their agreement to repair my ceiling fan

Under no circumstances should you enter into a home warranty contract with American Home Shield. This company will go to great lengths to keep from paying any claim. They will arbitrarily refuse payment on legitimate claims.

After paying premiums for a year and never filing a claim, in my 11th month, I had a ceiling fan failure and filed a claim. They sent a technician out and the technician acquired approval from AHS and offered to replace my fan with one on his truck. He did not have a proper replacement fan so we made arrangements for me to contact his office manager to discuss a cash settlement. Later in the day AHS called me to say that my claim was denied. After explaining that it had already been approved and I was arranging a cash settlement with the repair company, they said they were sorry but my claim was denied. No explanation other than it was not a covered repair. I went over the language of the policy with the AHS representative stating that the fan was in fact covered specifically under the language of the contract. However, he said again that my claim was denied. I asked to speak to a supervisor which was refused, and I then asked for the name of the owner and CEO of the company. I was given the name and address to send a letter of complaint.

I have contacted a lawyer and will be taking American Home Shield to court if the matter is not settled within 10 days.
