Corp. You actually expect your oven to work?

Since spending over $800 for a Maytag Gemini Dual Oven less than 2 years ago, I have had to have service calls for the following problems:
1. The oven was delivered with a marred cooking surface.
2. The baking element in the upper oven caught on fire and burned out. Time to repair: 6 weeks.
3. The control panel touch-pad stopped working so that the only way to turn off the oven was to use the circuit breaker in the basement
4. The baking element in the lower oven stopped working. Time to repair: 7 weeks.

After I complained to Maytag about being without use of my 4 month old oven for 6 weeks over the Christmas holiday season, they did extend the warranty for one year after the "fire incident". However, after experiencing an appliance breakdown approximately every 4-6 months since my purchase, I requested that either Maytag replace the appliance or extend the warranty until it can last just 1 year withouth having to have a service call. They refused both options (surprised?).

Prior to this oven, I had a builder-grade White-Westinghouse oven for 24 years (which never required service). After all these years, I thought it was time to "upgrade". I wish I had kept the Westinghouse! At least it was dependable. Not only will I never again purchase a Maytag product, but I would recommend that unless you are willing to wait long periods of time for your broken appliance to be repaired and don't mind spending a substantial amount of money for an unreliable product, you might want to consider purchasing from another company.
