Oil Change=Blown Engine - Oil change

We took our car in for an oil change. They failed to remove the old gasket from the filter which caused our engine to seize. All power was immediately lost. I shuddeer to think what could have happened to my son had he been driving on a highway (at a greater speed) than on the side street approaching a traffic light that he was on. The shop said they would replace the engine (approx, $3,300) but the franchse owner (Tom) was not as cooperative. He didn't return any of our phone calls, didn't offer a rental or loaner car, lied about putting in the claim with his insurance company. After 2 1/2 weeks without my car (1 1/2 weeks with a rental, that we had to get), his insurance company fixed the car with a salvage yard engine and reimbursed all expenditures. Throughout it all, Tom never once accepted liability, apologized, or cared at all about customer service or satisfaction. This is not the only shop of his that has had problems. My advise, STAY AWAY!
