The Kitchen Connection
Very slow work, poor follow through, fair (at best) workmanship. Required daily phone calls, for 8 months

The Kitchen Connection has one thing going for it - they build very nice *looking* cabinetry, at a reasonable price - if you have infinite patience, and are willing to be your own general contractor.

The workmanship leave something to be desired, as far as I can tell in the 8 months it took to do my project (and the kitchen was unusable for the better part of 6 months, several months past the expected working by date). There was 200% turnover in the company. I went through two designers, two installers, had to have one cabinet redone because they did not read the revised specifications from the first review, and after 8 months we are still not finished.

I had to call them nearly daily for several months to make any progress at all, and had to hire my own subcontractors to do parts of the installation (putting the sinks back in). Their communication with the Granite subcontractor was so poor that the work had to be redone because the drawings were not followed - that took two extra months, extra trips to the Granite place, and dozens of phone calls, faxes, and allusions to calling the the lawyers.

It looks nice (except where the screws in the drawers stick out (inside the drawers) but it cost at least $15,000 extra in lost use of the house not to mention a great deal of my time. Also, there were unhelpful in suggesting a time line for getting other work (electrical, plaster, plumbing, flooring) done in the proper order as they could not make up their mind, and were not especially upfront about all the other work that needed to be done (that they were not going to do) to get a kitchen remodel done according to code.

Go to Ikea and get the cabinets and hire a handyman to install. It will be cheaper and faster, and will take less of your time than these guys.

If you have already hired these guys, DON'T pay them anymore until they are finished.
