Refusal to Provide Award Certificate

Home Builders Association of Central Arizona (HBACA) is a political action committee representing home builder interests. I was an annual member of this association during my employment with Engle Homes of Arizona (April - February).

HBACA is responsible for organizing and hosting the annual MAME Awards event which publicly recognizes significant individual, team and company achievements within the home builder community.

Home Builders are responsible for submitting individual sales associate achievement results to the HBACA prior to this event. From that, the HBACA generates a sales achievement award certificate for each individual sales associate. Home Builder's permit this certificate to be displayed in sales offices as recognition of personal achievement.

I am being denied receipt of my 2006 Sales Achievement Award Certificate from the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona and I am submitting this complaint for pubic notice and awareness.

My position:

I resigned from Engle Homes on February 9 and did not seek nor accept employment with another home builder after that date.

The administrative process for submitting sales achievement information to HBACA for MAME needs to be provided to HBACA by the end of February. This is strictly a home builder administrative function and not a sales associate responsibility.

The first time I was able to realize that I was not being provided with my certificate was after the MAME event (held at end of March).

My assumption was that Engle would have submitted my information to HBACA since I was gainfully employed with them for the entire 2006 calendar yearwhy should I assume anything different? If anything, a call from Engle Homes asking if they should submit my 2006 numbers should have been extended as a professional courtesy.

I was told by the HBACA Director of Events that all she needed was verification of employment as well as the 2006 sales achievement numbers to generate the award certificate for signature. For whatever reason, the HBACA Executive Director has chosen not to acknowledge the Event Director's steps to resolve this issue and is now refusing to cooperate at any level.
