Slumlord!

I am seeking help with an ongoing problem that I and others in my neighborhood are having with the above named realty company and it's owner, mentioned above. My address is. My family and I moved into our home on April 1st of this year. 2 weeks after moving in, our downstairs toilet began to backup and ran over, causing sewage, feces and other matter to spill into the floors and carpets. Upon notifying my landlord, a plumber was sent out and we were informed that there was a problem in the line and that it was a warranty issue and that a contractor would be called to correct the problem. We have NEVER seen anyone since. The problem reocurred this past Saturday and when I notified the "on-call" person it was Louis B. Baldwin, Jr. That called me back. Apparently, he could not understand my frustration with the situation, given the fact that not only this problem, but several other problems that we have had at the property have gone unresolved and no one in his office returns phone calls. His attitude and demeanor were VERY rude and VERY condescending.

I have a wife that is 5 months pregnant and 2 other young children in the home, I have feces and other sewage inside the house and I get attitude from this man. Yet, on his company's website, it gives a list of all of his accolades that he has won. His solution to my problem, (after hanging up on me once); since it was a Saturday that I called was to "not use the downstairs bathroom" as it was considered NOT to be an emergency. Now remember, we're talking about human waste and sewage water..., but this was NOT an emergency. The smell alone was an emergency.

As I stated before, I am not the only person in the neighborhood that rents from this company and am not the only person who is having this problem and am not the only person who has had to deal with Mr. Baldwin's rudeness and unresponsiveness.

He keeps saying that it is a "warranty" issue and that he can't do anything about it, but he continues to rent properties in this area (and the rent ain't cheap!), KNOWING that this problem exists. So we have no alternative right now, but to contact someone else to see if the problem can be resolved. As a "Realtor of the Year, " you would think this person would be a little more customer service oriented, but I also think we are dealing with an issue of a predominantly African-American neighborhood, so there is no sense of urgency and a total lack of respect.

I would like to be contacted to see if there is anything that can be done about my plight and the other folks in my neighborhood who are having this problem. We also have photos. As of this writing, 5:24 pm on Monday, 10/29/07, we still have not heard from Mr. Baldwin, nor has ANY attempt to rectify the problem by his company been made.
