Ripped off, over $1,000, 6 months waited since march '07, now company closed, won't answer calls

I thought I saved money, in the end, they just walked away with the rest of my deposit, incomplete job, waited too long, would not let us cancel and now the number is disconnected and no one to contact. The credit card I used won't let us dispute the charges because it's been past the allowed 45 days as they say. I am very disappointed, angry and feels so violated. Can I still get my money back?
