Substandard roof replacement, refused to repai

GA Staples was hired to replace the roof on my mother's home after a hurricane. He was reccommended by my Uncle who is his Deacon at the Mormon church in Elizabeth City, NC. Mr. Staples was inundated with work after the hurricane and began to sub-contract other compainesworkers to complete the jobs he had been hired for.

The work done on my mother's house was horrible. Shingles flew off everytime the wind picked up, there were leaks from the roof damaging her ceiling, the list goes on and on. My mother contacted Mr. Staples regarding the situation, he came out and threw some patch shingles on the roof (they didn't even match the others in color or style) and apologized for the proplems. Less than 2 weeks later, the same issues returned.

Trying to get in touch with Mr. Staples was impossible, calls were not answered and messges were not returned. My sister also began trying to get Mr. Staples to return calls to no avail. Finally, my mother hears from Mr. Staples and he tells her that "he is finished with her house and any other problems should be taken up with her homeowner's insurance." This is not acceptable! His work was never up to standard. The roof he put on the house was never correct, the workmanship was horrible and he never corrected it.

We have attempted to contact GA Staples via mail and the letters are always returned. My mother has contacted lawyer's in North Carolina to bring a lawsuit against GA Staples, only to discover that almost every lawyer in the area has represented Mr. Staples at some point and they inform her that it would be a "conflict" for them to take on her lawsuit. DO NOT HIRE GA STAPLES FOR ANYTHING!!! My mother is an elderly widow and he left her high and dry. We have since found another roofer who came and took a look at the work done by Mr. Staples, he put in writing that the work was substandard and the entire roof needs to be replaced (again).
