Bad paver contractor do not hired him ripoff

About 3 years ago my husband and I decided that it was time to pave our driveway. So as every other educated consumer, I started looking into the different contractors in the area. After I selected a bunch of them, I looked to see if they had any problems with the BBB office. I also asked for some credit references to the contractors in order to verify that their previous customers were satisfy.

After doing our homework, we decided to go with the Gantert Paving & Contracting Co. - the owner came to our home on a Sunday afternoon and discussed the price and the kind of job he was going to perform. He also told us that he had worked several times for the Randolph township. That made me feel even better because I though that if he does some work for them, that means that he's not only an OK contractor but also he was known by the township.

Two years after he paved our driveway, we started noticing that certain parts of the driveway were not only craking but also we had bumps on it. When he first did the driveway, he installed a drain. Well, the drain doesn't have any asphalt around it anymore. It actually looks like it's coming out of the floor.

In addition to all those problems, early this year (Spring time) we had a bad rainy day. That caused our garage to be full of water. We had a couple of inches of water inside. As a consecuence my husband and I we had to take a day off to clean and take out all the water. And that's not all, as you can imagine we lost a few things due to the water coming into the garage.

After that, I told my husband that I was going to pursue very strongly to get this person to come to our home and fix the problem.

So, I called. Left several messages on his answering machine. No luck. I sent him a certified/return mail with pictures of the driveway. But that didn't do anything neither. Then I contacted my lawyer and he sent him a letter asking him to please contact us in order to solve the problem in a friendly way. But that didn't do anything neither.

In other words, this company does not want to take responsability for the bad job they did. My husband and I spent a lot of money to paved our driveway. We spent several thousand dollars. And the thing is that I don't think 3 years it's considering an OLD DRIVEWAY. I maybe wrong but I think he should at least return my calls and see what he can do in order to avoid any bad publicity.

At this point because I haven't got any answer from that company even though I tried several times, I am going to make sure that everybody knows about them when it comes to pave their driveway. It's certainly not fair for companies such as this that they can get away with problems like this.

I believe it's our responsability as the consumer to educate and provide information to other people that would like to know more about this companies and think twice before they hired them.
