Took the money and ran

May 1st 2006 was the day we moved into our new town home. We were excited and confident about our new purchase. That excitement and confidence has since been turned into extreme disappointment and frustration.

At closing we were assured that in any situation McDevitt Homes would be there for us. That was our mistake in taking them for their word. We were promised a 30-day walk-through and a one-year walk-through. We were promised gutters on our home and a sprinkler system for our lawn. We were not notified pre construction, during or anytime pre-closing that our particular garage would have to be shorten per a city set back, all of which were included and stated to be part of the purchase, which was signed months before ground was even broke.

We have tried over the past 14 months to correspond with the owner himself sending emails, calling, even sending certified letters to which we have no response. We were able to get some type of indication as to what may happen through the realtor, which we bought our home. That information we received states no definite dates or resolutions to our problems.

My wife and I are tremendously unhappy and dissatisfied with this whole experience. I feel that it is my duty to notify anyone of the practices of this company and how you should be forewarn as to the possible issues and problems that may arise when dealing with this company.

It was a lesson that has hurt us financially and mentally. It is my recommendation that if you choose to deal with this particular company please be aware of the headache and heartache that may be ahead of you.
