Do Not Call These People For Service RIP OFF!

Do Not call ABC Plumbing for service. We called them to replace a 40 gal electirc hot water tank in a condo we are selling. They talked up a great show on the phone, how professional they are and how they are the best and we have nothing to worry about etc. We checked out their website which was impressive (TOO impressive for a plumber, in hindsight). I checked the BBB and the BBB site said info on the company was temporarily unavailable.

The guy showed up, and while he was nice he began a sales pitch. First he said electric heaters cost more-false, they are cheaper. Second he tried to sell us MEMBERSHIP in some club of their for $17 a mo. Well, since plumbing clubs aren't our thing we passed. Then, when he finally came back with the $ figure after buttering us up and trying to soften the blow, they wanted $1300 for a 40 GAL TANK installed. They needed to do a little extra, replace about 18" of line and the intake valve (this is really basic stuff). The job didn't require anything extraordinary at all.

After refusing, I regretfully paid the $59 service fee (SHOULDA HELD OUT!) and called the next day to complain. They said they'd call back when they knew more, never did, so that's where we stand.

ABC claimed it is customary cost. WHAT? $1300 for a 40 gal hot water tank? These people will rob you blind, do NOT call them! ABC Plumbing Heating Cooling in Buffalo Grove and Wheeling, IL.
