Unprofessional company which completely misrepresented information, and broke contractual delivery date

I hired this company to move me from Washington DC to San Francisco, CA. I had an in-home estimate for $1400, and after inquiring on the possibility of cost overruns received an email from the sales guy giving me "100% assurances" that my costs would not go up. Despite that, my costs went up significantly and we agreed to $2400 fixed price. Upon pick up of my goods on May 23rd I was told by the salesman, who did the in-home estimate, that I could expect my goods by June 1st.

I packed accordingly, bringing only one suitcase of clothing. The contract stipulates 10-14 days for delivery from the date of pick up or the day the company is given a delivery address. Both were on the 23rd of May. That would mean my delivery date should be by June 6th. Each week I call and am told my shipment will be leaving that week, only to find out it hasn't yet left. My attempts at communication have continually been ignored. Emails bounce back, voice mail messages are not returned, faxes are ignored. Finally on Friday July 7th I was told my truck was in Utah and would be here on Sat or Sun. Today is Sunday July 9th and after a shouting match with the company representative my goods are being held hostage for a cash only payment. The original terms were credit card payments on my companies credit card. Because I was told this cash only statement on Sunday afternoon I am unable to get cash until Monday and am incredibly concerned as this company has continually lied to me and harassed me verbally. I have left voice mails with the driver to arrange for delivery and cash payment on July 10th. The company representative has only offered a discount of $250 for being over a month late in delivery. I have spent far more than that in order to live in the absence of my clothing, furniture, and household goods.

I feel this is not acceptable considering the lack of professionalism and severe harrassment i have suffered. I am very fearful of getting my goods in good condition, I am fearful that I could be further harrassed, and I am fearful for having a mover come into my home without any sort of protection. I am at a loss for how such a company can be given a BBB status.
