Foxtons
Unethical Unprofessional & Unreliable

Construction & Repair

I could have written Plainfield's story myself. I can't believe word for word I experienced the same thing. It must be their method of operation. There must be a manual handed out in the new hire training!

We listed our house in February after getting the same song and dance from their agen Matt Wheeler (supposedly let go). We, too, were assured that they were a full service realtor, had the brochures to influence our decision (when the brochures were recieved they were incredible inaccurate, so inaccurate that one of few prospective buyers agents asked if any one from Foxtons was actually at the house), promises of open houses (still no date set for that after repeated requests), we too, were told the house would sell with in 90 days (funny thing is that every other house around us is, homes that are smaller and priced higher), etc.

We were told that there would be a lockbox put on the house, can you believe it took them TWO MONTHS to get a lockbox on the house. And they didn't even know it! We got a phone call from them asking to show the house the next day, of course I told them no I would not be taking a day off of work. She said, well there is a lockbox on your house, I said where? Awkward silence next. (This is after many calles with in the two months to Matt Wheeler with no reply)

We requested that we have 24 hour notice before any showings, when they did call, they would only give a couple hours. We have a dog, we did not want to have her caged up every day unless there was buyer scheduled to see the house. We of course had to turn down prospective buyers.

We were also told by an agent from another company that they tried several times to show our home but never received calls back from Foxtons to schedule appointments.

Their contracts are also longer than other real estate contracts as they hook you into six month contracts (if your home is going to sell in 90 days, why do you need a six month contract - shame on us for not catching that, I never would have signed it). Most ethical agents would never lock you into a six month contract, most would just renew after 90 days.

We NEVER get phone calls for showings, only after a complaint to the company. No body wants to deal with Foxtons, it is clear. They do nothing to market the home, they do nothing at all.

We are now fighting to get out of our contract. Foxtons will not be selling our house.

I, too, have reported them to several different agencies. This company is unethical, unprofessional and unreliable. STAY AWAY! Trying to save the 1 to 2% (don't forget, commission is negotiable in NJ) is not worth it, you will lose more time being locked up with them with no results than the savings is worth.

Take a look around town, the only signs you will see in yards for longer than 3-4 months is a Foxtons sign.
