Metro-Plex Foundation
Ripoff, fraud, shoddy work

Construction & Repair

I contracted with Metro-Plex in 2000 to repair the pier and beam foundation of my house.

In I discovered numerous instances of contract violations and substandard workmanship, including:

I) The contract specified girders of tripled 2x6s: the installed girders were composed, at most, of doubled 2'x6s.

II) The contract specified that all wood material was to be treated: the installed girders contained untreated wood.

III) The contract specified that anchor bolts were to be installed in each of the estimated 28 perimeter piers: as 10 of the perimeter piers were constructed of mortar blocks, no anchor bolts were or could be installed.

IV) The contract specified that the work was to be completed in a substantial workmanlike manner, yet the following practices were discovered:

A) 4x4 uprights were utilised as support.

B) Loose rock was used as footings for some of the 4x4 uprights.

C) Steel shim plates exceeding 1 in total height were found.

D) Hollow cinder-blocks were used to form piers.

E) Cracked and broken mortar block fragments were used as shims.

F) Bricks were used as shims.

G) Electrical wires were trapped between the piers and the seal plate.

H) Sonotube forms were not removed, providing a route for termites to damage the structure.

I've initiated a lawsuit against this company, so it's in the hands of lawyers, but anyone should be leery of doing business with this outfit.
