Yard Turf - Teamboards - BuyAHoop.com Failed to refund deposit after putting off job for so long that we were forced to go with a different company Universal City California

Kevin Johnson of YardTurf (among other internet companies) provided an in person estimate to have synthetic lawn installed in our backyard. He said he required 50% up front, so we provided him with a check for $180. He said his "office" would call to schedule the installation date. We let him know we had to have it done soon, as we were moving out of state the following month and prepping the house for rental. We eventually got a call (which took much longer than I expected) and was given an installation date. Either late the day before or day of the install, Kevin/or his office called to say the did not have the materials in yet and would have to reschedule. We reminded them of the deadline and they assured us they could meet it. After this happened a second time, we decided to go with another company as we were running out of time. I called Kevin to request a refund of my deposit and explained that if he could not provide the product in a timely fasion, we were left with no alternative but to go with another company. He said he understood and would send us a refund check. After two weeks the check had not arrived so I called Kevin and asked him for the status. He said he had just forgotten and it would be in the mail the next day. Shortly after that, we moved out of state and eventually e-mailed Kevin about our refund. He "apologized" and said he would make sure to get it out right away. This was almost 9 months ago and we still have not received our check.
