No service after the sale ripoff

We purchased our Stratford home in 1990. The first winter we had 1 inch ice build up on all of our windows. We told them about and they said there was a drying period and that we had an air exchange so it would take care of itself.

It did not. Windows started to warp, rot etc. Our front door did not fit properly, it was replaced once but still does not close properly. The third year we were there our bathroom floor started to cave in. We contacted them to fix it.

They replaced the floor, but failed to tell us that the moisture under the house was rotting the whole underneath. Maybe they did not want us to know that. None of our windows close all the way and we have all electric heat which they suggested.

Then in 2001 we had a bad windstorm that blew off a section of siding between the house and garage. We asked them to take a look at it and put the siding back on. They said they could not because there was no longer anything to anchor it to.

Our entire lower portion (sill plate) is rotting and caving. We paid 63,000 for the house and the estimate is $ 68,000. If it was a car it would be totaled.

We contacted the stratford home rep and he said either get a lawyer or torch it. We chose to get an attorney. The attorney mentioned that the discovery clause may take effect and it did. So as usual the little guy got screwed. Our point is that they knew that there was a problem three years into the home when the warrenty was in effect but did not act on it. I contacted the builder in February and he said he would check into what can be done. Still nothing and he will not respond to any emails.

So bottom line is we bought a home expecting the builder would be behind us and they were not. It is a dirty ripoff.
