The Worst Mattress and Mattress Topper Money Can Buy RIPOFF!

I filed this complaint with the BBB:

On 9/12, I purchased an Aerobed Queen Size Mattress Topper at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $200.00 7% sales tax. I have returned the product to the store 3 times for a replacement. Since the warranty is only for a year, Bed, Bath and Beyond cannot replace it anymore, nor do they carry it due to poor workmanship.

The last one I received (3rd replacement) in August of developed about 10 leaks recently, although it has had slow leaks over the past year. Now it is totally flat in the morning. It has to be inflated every hour! It also leaks in the middle of the two chambers, so both sides are totally flat.

The pump started making a funny noise about a week ago, and it is a fire hazard now. If you open it (my husband is an electronics technician) you can see where black debris have formed. Therefore, we are afraid to use this expensive product. This mattress topper was meant as a permanent solution for people to use on top of a mattress.

I am a disabled person, and I have severe back and neck injuries, and this is causing me terrible and needless pain and suffering. I cannot afford to run out and buy a new mattress topper. I cannot sleep on the Deluxe Queen Size Aerobed alone, that I also purchased on the same day for $209.00 7% sales tax. It has also been returned to Bed, Bath and Beyond once because it developed a leak.

It is very uncomfortable to sleep on alone. I called Aero Products International, Inc. Today, May 3, and they offered me a new one at a discounted price of $149.99! I want my money back! I will not pay for another mattress topper only for it to fail in a few months.

I need my money back in order to replace the mattress topper I depended on for over a year. There are many complaints on the Internet about this product. I would appreciate any help you can give me in resolving this situation.

This is in response the the complaint filed by the above consumer, %. While we apolgoize for your expereince with our product, we are unable to honor your request for a refund. Our products offer a 30-day money back guarantee (lie, they have a one-year warranty) and regrettably you are now well beyond these guidelines. All requests for a refund must be made at the place of purchase (Bed, Bath and Beyond) for their refund guidelines.

When a consumer states that they have numerous problems with a product, as the manufacturer we would want to replace the product under the warranty guidelines. Unfortunately, you chose to return your product to the store for the exchanges and therefore we are unable to define what may have caused the difficulties with your product.

Aero has made the decision to 'retire' the mattress-topper model so we may add new items into our line of products. It should also be noted that our distributor Bed, Bath and Beyond, always launches our new items for us and are continually changing the models that they carry. There has never been a recall or 'poor workmanship' issue with our products with our distributors.

Our representative has offered you a generous discount on a new mattress-topper which carries a 'one-year warranty'. This warranty is still one of the best warranties on the market today for this type of product. You may also wish to consider this discount on a different model. She must be out of her mind! I went to Walmart the other day and purchased a Renew All Memory Foam Mattress to put ontop of the Deluxe Aerobed Mattress we are STUCK with. No one should ever do business with this company!
